Central Idea: Societal needs cause people too develop systems that decide how to govern themselves.
Riley's Farm was very fun experience . Below is my reflection
Riley’s Farm Reflection
Riley's Farm was quite fun. I found most interesting with the weapons . I learned that the bullets were made out of lead. When someone gets shot with one of the bullets , it goes inside of them and it causes them to die because led is poisonous and it then poisonous you ,and you die . I also thought the mini war was fun , because i found out that the american actually won the war .
I first learned that the soldiers had to bring lots of utilities . Like toothbrushes made out of boar hair , spoons / forks , and lot's of cool stuff. In my opinion the fire starter was the best. It required tin ( striped wood ) and they had to scrape flint and steel , and it would make sparks to go on the tin to burn. I also thought the part when the woman talked about if you want to eat with your hands you have to wash your hands with soap so all the things you would touch could give you an infection if you don’t wash your hands . I then learned that the judge back then would just put people in jail for the commission to the judge and to the king even if they were not guilty.
I liked when they talked about how you could get an infection without being clean . The bayonet was pretty interesting because when the soldiers attack other people and they attack either the same bayonet it can give the people being attacked an infection. If it did not have the infection the person was just stabbed they could have lived but with the constant incision of the knife it gonna give the the victim an infection and most likely to die due to the unsanitary knife than the wound. Also if you don’t cook your meat you could get an infection because the normal cooking of meat takes away the bacteria in it. so it’s good to cook it .
Interacting in everything was interesting. We got to play with toys that people 200 years ago got to play with like this toy that had 2 sticks , kinda like drumsticks , and would have a ring around and you would cross the sticks with the ring around it and just pull the stick so that the next person could catch it . Also a flat hoop that required you to have a stick and roll the hoop around so it balances to help your hand eye coordination. We also got to participate in some mini skits. Like one that had 3 boys and 3 girls that each had a name that would be complaining about the taxes and money .
American revolution
Some causes of the american revolution was the sugar act of 1776, and the stamp act in 1765. This tax was on sugar , molasses, and other items. The colonies brought .This brought James Otis ( Massachusetts lawyer)¨ Taxation without representation is tyranny ¨- james Otis (battle cry of the colonist ), but the parliament did not listen to the colonist . They just added more taxes .Then Thomas Hutchinson was to be sent to England to present the colony's side in the Sugar Act. With my partner Brett, we did the sugar act of 1776. It was on how The Articles of Confederation was adopted by the Continental Congress on November 15, 1777. It had a ratification on March 1,1781 The article of confederation was written by the Continental Congress. They wrote this during the revolutionary war, and The articles were written to give the colonies( 13 ) some sense of a united government. Once the thirteen colonies became the thirteen states but each one began to act alone in its own best interest. A new governing document was needed in order for these new states to act together, to become a nation. The Articles of Confederation became effective on March 1, 1781, after all thirteen states had ratified them.
